West E[k Mine
• realistic sustained inflow rate of 7 gpm to both the F and B Seams Review of data presented in
Figure 23 shows the average groundwater inflow during the period 1983 to 1995 is about 8
AF/yr or approximately 5 gpm continuously. Using the average 7 gpm groundwater inflow
assumptions, WWE calculated a "fill time" for the mine (including the Apache Rocks mining
area) of 2,110 years, again assuming no seepage or outflow.
This "time to fill" calculation was based on the following information and assumptions:
• B Seam mining thickness (12 ft.);
• E Seam mining thickness (11 ft.);
• Approximate Current (1996) Minim Area (B Seam) -Longwall Panels (23,020,000 ft 2) and
Development Areas (16,370,000 ft. );
• Approximate Apache Rocks Mining Area (B Seam) -Longwall Panels (57,403,750 ft.2) and
Development Areas (19,854,250 ftZ);
C~
•
2.05-218 Revised November 2004 PR10
