Surrounding land uses in the immediate vicinity include limited residences and
agricultural lands.
The final reclamation for the permit site will be for two connected water-storage
reservoirs surrounded by an impermeable bentonite-based slurry wall keyed into
the shale bedrock. The Lupton Bottom Ditch will separate the two reservoir
ponds. The reservoir ponds will support wetland vegetation at the shorelines and
provide wildlife habitat for resting waterfowl. The ponds will cover approximately
78 total acres with the remainder of the permit area consisting of reclaimed
shoreline and setback areas, the reconstructed Lupton Bottom Ditch and
undisturbed property (the existing oil and gas facilities).
