The stockpiles will be broadcast seeded with a temporary <br />cover when stockpiles will remain in place for more than one growing season and <br />will be constructed with a minimum 2:1 slope. <br />Regradin4 and Shaping <br />The pit slopes and reconstructed ditch alignment will be backfilled from their <br />near-vertical mined condition and "mined-through" location, to an undulating <br />shoreline with rounded corners. The backfill will be placed in 3:1 and 2:1 slopes <br />leading to the reservoirlpit bottom, prior to topsoil placement, using a mixture of <br />shale from the pit floor and topsoil. <br />Approximately 1 ft. (12 inches) of topsoil will be placed on all disturbed level <br />areas around the reservoir ponds, along the reconstructed ditch alignment and <br />on all 3:1 slopes, both above and slightly below the expected high water-line, for <br />the filled reservoirs. Contour furrows will be established on the shoreline slopes <br />to reduce erosion and encourage stable plant growth. Topsoil will be smoothed- <br />out along the shoreline and furrowed as seedbed preparation for successful <br />native grass seeding and growth. <br />Ft.
