.: , ~ ~ -
INTEROFFICE MEMORANDUM
TO:
FROM
R.A. Mills
J.G. Nalven
SUBJECT: Yampa Val
DATE:
1 Co. - Aquifer
November 21, 1986
1 001
On November 11, 1986, a slug test was performed on Well 001-SP-7.
In addition, an attempt was made to slug test Well 001-SP-6.
This test was unsuccessful because the permeability of the spoil
aquifer was too high for the slug test method.
The tests were performed by displacing a volume equal to 0.24
gallons of water with a bailer. The initial water level was
measured with an electric water level indicator for calibration
purposes. All other water level measurements were made with a
pressure transducer which measures to the nearest 0.01 feet with
an accuracy of 0.03 feet. The results of the test were analyzed
using the Bouwer and Rice method (1976) and the Papadopulos
method (1973).
The data and plots for Well 001-SP-7 are presented in Appendix A.
The test data indicates that the transmissivity in Well 001-SP-7
is approximately 10 to 20 gallons/day/foot and the permeability
is approximately 0.3 gallons/day/square foot. The transmissivity
of Well 001-SP-6 is estimated to be in the range of 10,000 to
100,000 gallons/day/foot based upon the similarity of response to
that obtained in Well 026-SP-2. Due to the small diameter of
Well 001-SP-6, additional permeability testing is probably not
warranted.
JGNjclr
Attachments
cc: G.A.
