1/24/97 -2-
- MCC has placed two :~ea1s in the 1SE headgate entries, anti crews
are trying to place a third (final) seal in the third 1SE headgate
entry. Water is flowing swiftly at the third location, so crews are
having a difficult tune placing the last seal.
- MCC has approached the U.S. Forest Service about a possible
dewatering well above the NE tailgate sump. MCC prefers a location
above the NE panel sump. Two other locations are also b=_ing
considered. The well ~rould likely be a 24" well and would have a
dedicated treatment pond.
- MCC's longwall'in Jurnbo Mountain has not been jeopardized, ex~:ept
by the competing powex• demands of the pumping activities.
- Kathy stated that MCC had no idea that these faults existed, and
that there is no correlation between the faults and any sur:Eace
features.
- Kathy stated that MCC' would provide an updated PHC revision early
in February.
- MCC will be retaining a Dr. Mayo from Salt Lake City to Help
evaluate the cause of the inflow situation.
- I stated that McCannon, Long, Pendleton and I met this morning
to discuss the situation, and that we will probably request a much
more detailed analysis of the groundwater situation before mining
proceeds much further to the east. Kathy indicated that she
understood this, and that MCC was doing everything possible to
define the situation.
- Kathy asked if we would like updates this weekend, and I started
that a report Monday morning would suffice.
