1/24/97 -2- <br />- MCC has placed two :~ea1s in the 1SE headgate entries, anti crews <br />are trying to place a third (final) seal in the third 1SE headgate <br />entry. Water is flowing swiftly at the third location, so crews are <br />having a difficult tune placing the last seal. <br />- MCC has approached the U.S. Forest Service about a possible <br />dewatering well above the NE tailgate sump. MCC prefers a location <br />above the NE panel sump. Two other locations are also b=_ing <br />considered. The well ~rould likely be a 24" well and would have a <br />dedicated treatment pond. <br />- MCC's longwall'in Jurnbo Mountain has not been jeopardized, ex~:ept <br />by the competing powex• demands of the pumping activities. <br />- Kathy stated that MCC had no idea that these faults existed, and <br />that there is no correlation between the faults and any sur:Eace <br />features. <br />- Kathy stated that MCC' would provide an updated PHC revision early <br />in February. <br />- MCC will be retaining a Dr. Mayo from Salt Lake City to Help <br />evaluate the cause of the inflow situation. <br />- I stated that McCannon, Long, Pendleton and I met this morning <br />to discuss the situation, and that we will probably request a much <br />more detailed analysis of the groundwater situation before mining <br />proceeds much further to the east. Kathy indicated that she <br />understood this, and that MCC was doing everything possible to <br />define the situation. <br />- Kathy asked if we would like updates this weekend, and I started <br />that a report Monday morning would suffice. <br />
