EXHIBIT D - MINING PLAN
A. The Logan Wash Oil Shale Mine is a modified in-situ oil shale operation.
Standard mining methods are used to excavate adits and raises for access
in the construction of underground rooms. The room sizes are calculated
to provide the necessary void space to create a chimney of oil shale when
the oil shale above each room is blasted with conventional explosives. A
flame front is established at the top of the chimney or retort which causes
the oil to flow to the bottom of the retort where it is pumped out to an
oil/water separator (heater-treater plant) for preparation for shipping.
Surface disturbances related to these activities include:
1. A dump site located in the NE4 of the NH', and the SE4 of the NW'; of
Sec 25 with a capacity of 8.6 million cubic yards of new rock 30.00 acres
2. Upper mine portal and bench located in the NW4 of the NE4 and the
SE'4 of the NE4 of Sec 25 3.00 acres
3. Lower mine portal and bench located in the SE4 of the NW4 and the
SW4 of the NE4 of Sec 35 3.80 acres
4. Research mine bench and dump located in the NE4 of the SE', of
Sec 25 5.00 acres
5. Surface facility buildings and drill pads located in the SE4 of
the NE4 of Sec 25 1.00 acres
