Hart
Re: Schwartzwalder Mine, Jefferson County,
Application for Mining and Reclamation
Permit
Gentlemen:
Thank you for the opportunity to meet with each of yqu
this morning in order to review the details of your
most recent (January 24, 1978) response to the Mined
Land Reclamation Board (NLRB) regarding the captioned
application. At the conclusion of our meeting, you
expressed a desire for the base information supporti~ig
the level of consumptive use mentioned in Mr. Kenneth
J. Burke's letter to the NLRB of January 18, 1978, a
copy of which was delivered to your office. In that
regard, you indicated that you would supplement your
response in time for it to be received by the NLRB if
we could provide you with the pertinent information
today. Accordingly, we have compiled the appropriate=_
data for you which indicates that the amount of con-
sumptive use of water taking place in the ore-washing
operation is 0.337 acre feet annually. In more detail,
our analysis follows: -•
Referring to the attached process flow diagram, Figure
1, the water circuit at the ore sorter is a closed
operational circuit. The circuit is opened only once
every t~r•o operational days for the purposes of recycling
the water from the holding tank to the water treatment
plant and to refill the holding tank with treated water
drawn from the #3 earthern settling pond.
