• , iiiiiniiiiuiiiiii

Division of Minerals and Geology. ~ Gv~~~•Q/
"~~
I have serious concerns regarding the pollution of
the Arkansas river from thedust from crushing gravel and
from using 30,000 to 50,000 gallons of water per day. Where
will the water come from? and ,more importantly, where will
the polluted water go?
The pollutants will eventually find there way to the
river and affect everyone downstream. This pit/mine would
use as much water as 1,000 househoulds, we know water is
too precious a commodity to squander this way, then return
to the river andenvironment in a polluted condition. The
polluted runoff into out precious river cannot be allowed!
There is a faultline in the immediate area that might
adversly affect the flow of the river; rivers have been known
to disappear when fault line disturbances (from blasting)
occur.
the risks to our balanced environment are to great
to allow this pit/mine to damage this fragile area.
Sincerel
Gregor
529 Di_____
Canon City, Colo.
269-8432
