The purpose of this meeting <br />is to heaz your input on issues and concerns that should be addressed in the Environmental Impact Statement, <br />and to answer your questions regazding this project. CAM Colorado-LLC officials (the project proponent) will <br />present a briefing on the project, which involves a proposed underground coal mine in the Book Cliffs north of <br />Loma, a 14.5 mile railroad spur from the mine to Mack, and other associated mine facilities (see enclosed map). <br />It would be most helpful if you or someone from the Colorado Division of Reclamation Mining and Safety <br />could attend this meeting. A public scoping meeting will be held later the same day at the Fruita Civic Center <br />from 4:00 [0 7:00. The agency scoping meeting in the morning will give your agency an opportunity to work <br />collaboratively with other state, local, and federal agencies in the eazly stages of review for this project. <br />Cooperating agencies identified so far include: Mesa County, Garfield County, Colorado Department of Natural <br />Resources, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, and U.S. Office of Surface Mining. We aze also inviting other <br />interested agencies to the agency scoping meeting including: Bureau of Reclamation, U.S. Fish and Wildlife <br />Service, City of Fruita, Highline Lake State Pazk, Colorado Division of Wildlife, and the Colorado Division o£ <br />Reclamation Mining and Safety. <br />The offtcial scoping period for identifying issues and concerns will extend until September 25, 2006.
