As Z mentioned to Darrel Hespe in Januazy, 1982, the
Division has no problem with reducing data monitoring frequency if one
year of baseline has been acquired. At that time, I recall that I gave
Darrel verbal approval to sample semi-annually. 1 am writing this letter
now to acknowledge the request and to give written notice of this approval.
Let me also further explain the Division's posture on monitoring at the
Fruita mines. Monitoring, sampling and analysis of ground water in Play
and October will suffice as Long as the mine is not in operation. Once
the operation resumes, however, the Division may request that, in addition
to the semi-annual program, certain wells be monitored for water Level only
during the growing season. This will be decided prior to issuance of
your permit or prior to the comrr~ncement of mining.
If you have any questions, don't hesitate to call.
Sincerely, ,
-_~ C~ +
Erian E, Munson
Reclamation Specialist
BEP1/mmt
