• 2.7.7.4 FLAME GQLCH
An evaluation of the Flume Gulch alluvial system relative to
an alluvial valley floor (AVF) follows. This section presents the
geologic setting, ground water and surface Water conditions, soil
and vegetation and land use conditions for the Elume Gulch area.
2.7.7.4.1 GEOLOGIC SETTING
Map M-58 presents the location of the Flume Gulch drainage in
the Trapper Mine permit. This location map shoos the locations of
drill holes and cross sections used in defining the Flume Gulch
system. A geologic cross section from wells GP-9 through the Coy
test hole and Wells GC1 and GP1 is presented in Map M-59. This
geologic cross section shows the geologic setting of the Flume
• alluvial system. The other main aquifers of concern in this area
are the Third White Sandstone, the H and I Coal Seams, the KLM
sequence of coals and the QR aquifer system. These beds dip to the
north, similar to the remainder area of the Trapper Mine. Shale
~v`"''= lenses between the aquifer systems separate these aquifer systems
•~-':~`' from being readily connected.
':`:..
=;~: Map M-58 presents the locations of three alluvial cross
sections in Flume Gulch. The GT site geologic cross section was
developed on the eastern branch of the Flume Gulch and is called
the GT area. The GC cross section is located at the GC well sites
and the Coy cross section is located at the Coy alluvial well site.
The Coy alluvial site is below the confluence of both the GT and GC
sites. 98PIS®I!/W/92
