2.7.7 Pre-minin¢ Conditions - Alluvial Valley F1
_: This section addresses potential alluvial valley floors (AVFs) that could
be affected by the Trapper Mine as required by Che Surface Mining Control
and Reclamation Act of 1977 and the Colorado Surface Coal Mining Reclam-
ation Act of 1979.
The review encompasses three general areas; the Williams Fork River, the
Yampa River and upland drainages that drain from the mine plan area to the
Yampa River.
A preliminary report assessing the potential for AVFs to be affected by
Trapper Mine was prepared and submitted to the Region V office of the
Office of Surface Mining and the Colorado Mined Land Reclamation Division
in Piay, 1980 (Pic Bride and Krishmamurthi, 1980). A copy of this report is
included as Appendix H. On May 7, 1980, representatives of Utah International,
Inc. (Utah), the Office of Surface Mining and the Colorado Mine Land Rec-
lamation Division met to review the findings of that report. The meeting
participants concluded that it is unlikely that impacts will accrue to
alluvial aquifers associated with the Williams Fork or Yampa Rivers as a
result of operations at the Trapper Ptine.
The discussion of the potential AVF sites will therefore be mainly on the
drainages in the mine plan area with limited discussion on the Williams
Fork and Yampa alluvial systems.

2-531
