EA^nIBIT E - Reclamation Plan
After the desired material has been removed from the affected area, the
reclamation process will commence using bulldozers, frontloeders, tractors,
and disk harrows. The reclamation plan includes the following steps:
Step 1 - Final grade the surface to a slope of 4:1 or less where
possible to prevent erosion and facilitate reseeding, In certain areas,
it may be necessery to go up to a slope of 2:1 in which case the land
will be terraced or other steps taken to preclude erosion,
Step 2 -Available stocY.piled topsoil will be spread over each completed
section. The thickness of the topsoil layer will depend on how much was en
each section prior to mining. The plan is to distribute from 2" to 6" over
the area when it is available. The Soil Conservation Service Office recommenas
that when no significant topsoil is available, the Operator should simply
apply fertilizer, double seeding, and mulch to the sandy soil found on
the site.
Step 3 -Apply a commercial mix fertilizer with 40~ availability per
acre.
Step 4 - Reseed the area twice with an appropriate native grass r^i::
during spring or summer months.
Step 5 - Spread mulch on the surface era harrow it in so that it wil'_
Y:old moisture and not be blown away.
The Operator has worked closely with the Soil Conservation Service Office
at Si.m1a in the pas*. several years and w~L continue to do so for the
reclamation of This mined erea. For verification. please contact Shirley
Gannon or Del Carter at 541-2;5P,
