CORVOpI~T~OM <br /> <br />2.0 INTRODUCTION <br />The purpose of this study was to determine if the Yampa <br />River gains or loses substantial flow in the vicinity of the area <br />known as Big Bottom near Craig, Colorado. The Utah International, <br />Inc. Trapper Dfine is located in the Big Bottom Syncline ground- <br />water catchment basin. It is possible that a portion of the <br />ground water in this basin is discharged to the Yampa River in <br />the vicinity of Big Bottom. If so, contaminants from any fu[ure <br />wastes placed in the Trapper Mine that enter ground-water sys- <br />tems could emerge with ground-water flow into the river and thus <br />have an effect on the water quality of the river. The reach of <br />interest was from the S.H. 13 bridge to the confluence of the <br />Yampa River and Williams Fork, a distance of 4.6 river miles <br />(see Figure 2-1). <br />• <br /> <br /> <br />2-Z <br />
