WESTERN SLOPE CARBON, INC.
0, 0. BOx 1576
SALT LAKE CIT V, VTAN !1110
t0 ] ~53~3600
• Sept, 21, 1979
Mr. John Hardaway
Chief of Technical Analysis and Research
Office of Surface Mining East Lease Mining Plan
U.S. Dept oP the Interior
Post Office Bldg „ Room 270
1823 Stout Street
Denver, CO 80202
Dear Mr. Hardaway:
As we discussed in the meeting Wednesday the 19th I am enclosing a
well permit that Western Slope Carbon (WSC) applied for upon urging from the
Colorado Mined Land Reclamation staff, This Nell permit allows WSC to use
four acre feet per year; the amount encountered annually. This water is totally
used within the mine both as a cooling agent and as a dust suppressant for the
continuous miners, No water is pumped out of the mine, the water adheres to
• the coal and is shipped out with the coal,
This well permit should be attached to Western Slope Carbon's mining
permit with the Mined Land Reclamation and with our East Lease Mining Plan
for OSM. Again St is to be emphasized that WSC owns and controls 426 acre
feet per year from the East Beckwith Reservoir which is more than adequate to
repay any water which is inadvertantly deverted into the mine workings.
We will appreciate any help you can give us in processing our Hermit,
please keep me informed of what is in progress.
Si r 1y`
ion
hief Engineer
AA/bno
Attachment
cc: Ken Buell
Tony Durando
Rick Fanyo
Bob Johnson
• E, Peter Matthi'es
A •Y^lIDIAwY 01 NOwTNN[iT {N[wGY COMtANY
