Order 1 Soil Survey Map <br />2. Available Topsoil Mmap <br />3. Critical Area Planting Specification <br />4. Mulching Specification <br />The following seeding mixture is recommended for this sitje: <br />DRILL <br />SPECIES RATE (BROADCAST) <br />Vaughn sideoats grama 2.3 (4.6) 1jbs./ac. <br />Critana thicl<spike wheatgrass 1.7 (3.4) lbs./ac. <br />Arriba western wheatgrass 1.6 (3.2) lbs./ac. <br />The area should be mulched and crimped or tacked with 3500-4000 <br />lbs./ac. mountain meadow hay, or other grass hay free of ivolunteer <br />wheat or barley. The area should be spring seeded not lajter than May <br />1, but after April 1. Mowing weeds may be necessary for p Years. <br />Fertilizer is recommended at the rate of 40 lbs. nitrageniand 40 lbs. <br />phosphorus per acre. Topsoil should be replaced to a dep h of 12 <br />inches. Animal manures at the rate of 8 T/ac. @ 80% mois ure should <br />be applied and incorporated if the topsoil stockpiles hav been <br />stored for more than 2 years. Topsoil stocl<piles in long term <br />storage should be seeded to a cover crop of 4.5(9) lbs./a Vaughn <br />sideoats grama and .2(.4) lbs./ac. Ladak alfalfa to retaij~ as many <br />soil microorganisms as possible. <br />Considering the small amount of topsoil needed to reclaim the pond <br />edge, the pit operator can be very selective about which topsoil to <br />use in the reclamation process. The topsoil to be salvaged for <br />on-site reclamation should come from soil mapping unit 10 - Banl:ard <br />sandy loam. The soils in the Swale positions, soil mapping unit 3 - <br />Aquolls and Aquents, are rich in organic matter but have <br />
