During the quarter, discharge was recorded on four events from
sediment pond 007 as a result of precipitation received at the mine site (indicated by an *).
Precipitation recorded at the New Elk Mine rain gauge is as follows:
3 0 ~u~ July 5 0.8" July 20 1.3" July 25 0.5"
~~ / i~
July 28
Aug 3
_0.4" Aug 1
0.2" ~g 4~
0.4"
0.8"
Aug 2
10'
0.3"
0.7"

~~ ~"~ Au l5 _
Set 15* Q_6" _ _ _ Aue Z l
0.6" Sept 16 0.4"
0.5" ~uQ 22*
Sept 20 0 7"
0.2"
Sept 21 0.3"
With these precipitation events, Picketwire requests that the standards of TSS and Total Iron be
waived as al lowed in our permit. With this request, no exceedances ofthe remaining standards were
recorded. The design of this sedimentation pond includes a stand pipe with weep holes and a gate
valve on the discharge pipe. The valve is operated in the open position to allow storm water to pass
through the pond after settlement of solids occurs. The design parameters and stage-storage curve
for Pond 007 have been submitted previously for your information. The pond is designed to contain
the 10-year, 24-hour precipitation event of 2.9 inches. Prior to each discharge, the pond had
dewatered to at least the bottom of the weep holes.
