Klassen Pit 35-6-48
6.3.2 EXHIBIT B- SITE DESCRIPTION (Soils)
Soils Description:
All Soils in Kit Carson County are listed as Highly Erodable Soils for both wind and water,
Under normal conditions, native grasses, fortis and shrubs generally provide sufficient cover to
protect the soils from excessive erosion
Once the vegetative cover is removed from the soils, significant dust from wind erosion is to be
expected in both the mine and stockpile areas unless steps are taken to provide protection in
the form of artificial snow fences or other barriers. Significant cutting in the form of water
erosion is to also be expected on the stockpile area side slopes unless they are protected by
either vegetation or mulch. The tops and side slopes of the mine can also be expected to
experience significant cutting during runoff-level rain events.
REGR,~~o
~uNZ22oos
Oryis\an °1 M~°°cals and ~°0~oif'~
