The operation may have some
impact on the quality of both ground and surface water in the future. To
assist in the assessment of these impacts, the operator has installed a
monitoring well in the southwestern portion of the backfilled cast Pit. The
well has been installed in the lowest portion of the pit in order to monitor
the spoil aquifer. Monitoring requirements for this well are included in the
above stipulation.
A discussion of possible ground water hydrologic impacts can be found in the
Cumulative Hydrologic Impact Assessment within this document.
With the acceptance of the above stipulation, the existing and proposed
operations are in compliance with the requirements of this section.
VI. Surface Water Hydrology - Rules 2.04.5, 2.04.7, 2.05.3(4),
an
Information pertaining to surface water quality and quantity can be found in
Section 2.04.7, Volume I of the approved permit application and the Federal
Lease permit revision application. Additional surface water hydrology
information is provided in the approved permit application by Exhibits 29 and
34 and Maps 5, 7, 8, SA, 9, and 16.
Surface hydrology information in the Federal Lease application is also
provided by Exhibit 38 and Maps 6R1, 7R1, 8R1, and 8BR1. Information
pertaining to sediment control structures can be found in Section 2.05, Volume
I and Exhibit 22, Volume IV of the approved permit application, and in Volume,
Section 2.05-19 through 22 of the Federal Lease permit revision document.
The approved and proposed permit areas are drained by one perennial drainage,
Stollsteimer Creek. Flows in Stollsteimer Creek vary seasonally. Highest
flows occur during periods of snowmelt and intense thunderstorms. Stollsteimer
Creek receives flow from numerous ephemeral drainages. This creek is dammed
in numerous locations above the proposed permit area, the closest dam being
located at Capote Lake, approximately 5 miles upstream.
-15-
