Corresponding enclosed reports
describe related field work and results. As of the date of this letter, no laboratory
analysis results are available for samples taken from two springs and no repair work
has been initiated at Pond 5/6.
NPDES monitoring was performed in May as well as June 1991. In May, only point
005 (Pond 5/6) was discharging. Laboratory results are included with this letter.
(Note: Total iron analysis was run on the May sample. Analysis results were well
below the permit effluent limitation of 7.0 mg/I, daily maximum). Pond 5/6
discharge point .005, was again discharging and sampled in June. The June
laboratory analysis results are not yet completed.
Also monitored during the June site visit were surface water locations SW-2, 3, 4,
and 5. SW-2 and 4 were flowing at approximately .056 and .134 cfs respectively.
Field measurements were taken and are shown in Table 1, Field Measurements.
Monitor well MW-3 was also field checked. Water level was found to be 4.12 feet
below the top of the casing. Field measurements for MW-3 are also shown in Table
1, Field Measurements. Spoil Wells 2 and 5 were checked and contained no water.
