• 2.05.3(4)(a)(ii)
The erosion control matting selected for this application is
Enkamat 7010. Channel linings are selected to withstand shear
stress in the channel. According to the manufacturers published
information, Enkamat 7010 is capable of resisting 6 pounds per
square foot of shear (tractive) stress. The basic formula to
determine shear stress of a channel is unit weight of water X slope
of channel X depth of flow.
The shear force developed in the upper diversion ditch at a ten and
fifteen percent grade is about 2 and 3 pounds per square foot
respectively. Therefore, the Enkamat 7010, which can resist a
shear stress of 6 pounds per square foot will be installed in the
ditch at locations where the ditch grade exceeds 4$. Additionally,
the Operator will assure the ditch was constructed in accordance
with the approved design, make modifications to the ditch as
necessary, and will supply the Division with a P.E. construction
certification.
•
•
-101- Rev.
