2.05.3(4)(a)(i)
The following discussion regarding sediment ponds, sediment
control, terrace ditches and small area exemptions is no longer
relevant to the permit. The preceding pages demonstrate the
untreated drainage from the reclaimed Red Canyon Mine site does not
contribute additional suspended solids above natural conditions.
Therefore, sedimentation control is no longer required at the Red
Canyon Mine site.
The Operator plans to reclaim the mine property during 1988. For
this reason the proposed sediment pond previously described on
these pages is no longer relevant. The existing sediment pond will
be functional throughout the entire bond liability period. The
following pages will describe the post reclamation drainage system
for the site. All of the existing culverts that are part of the
existing drainage control system will be removed, or otherwise
taken out of service, during the reclamation project. One new
culvert will be installed during the project. All of the
collection ditches except the lower catch ditch below the refuse
pile will be obliterated during the reclamation project. All of
the diversion ditches except one upper diversion ditch will also be
obliterated.
The post reclamation drainage system for the site will include the
sediment pond, the major drainage channel which crosses the site,
• a lower catch ditch below the refuse pile area which will direct
run off from this area to the pond, and an upper diversion ditch
which will direct run-off from unaffected area into the major
drainage channel. A 24-inch diameter culvert is designed to be
installed under the major drainage channel to allow run-off from
the east side of the property to reach the sediment pond.
The post reclamation drainage system is shown on Map No. 2.05.3(4)-
2(a).

-97- Rev. 09-18-92
rr~~~
