Grand Mesa Coal Company extended the belt
portal out 15 feet with I-beam legs and cross-bars to protect it from
the 20 foot high wall above it. This portal was initially to be
used for track haulage, and is presently used as a beltline entry.
The floor was shot up four to five feet for 500 feet in the spring
-- of 1979 for better access. In June of 1979, a 36 inch suspended
belt was installed in this entry for belt haulage rather than
- track haulage. A concrete pad, 12 foot by 30 foot by 6 inches,
is located 60 feet out-by this po=tal for the belt drive and take
up. Three sets of supports extend the belt another 100 feet beyond
the drive and 28 feet above the yard. Refer to the Affected Land
Map, 2.04.3(2)(a)-2, for the location of the belt portal. The belt
portal is inspected daily by certified mine personnel. Helt rollers
~'
-- REVISED March 12, 1984 87a
