• 2.05.3(1) <br />Production from the proposed Red Canyon N2 Mine is projected to be 200,000 <br />tons per year during the first two years of production, and 400,000 tons <br />per year beyond that. The production per unit is projected to be 200,000 <br />ton per year. Refer to the Red Canyon ~2 Mine Projections, "D" Coal Seam <br />Map. 2.05.3(1)-3. annual projections. <br />Four portals are being planned for the B2 Mine. Prior to the start of the <br />portal excavation. new sediment control structures will be established in <br />the draw near the permit boundary. Refer to Section 2.05.3(4) for sediment <br />control modifications and Section 2.05.3(2)(D) for details of the portal <br />excavation. <br />(2) Operation Description. <br />(a) Surface Mining. <br />• Not applicable. <br />(b) Underground Mining. A narrative description of all proposed surface <br />disturbances to be associated with the underground mining activities will <br />take place. The three sites of proposed surface disturbance are the proposed <br />sedimentation pond, the proposed portal and yard area for access to the Red <br />Canyon N2 Mine, and the proposed underground development waste disposal site. <br />Refer to the Proposed Surface Disturbance Map, 2.05.3(2)(b)-1, for the location <br />of each of these proposed surface disturbances. <br />Excavation and construction of each of the proposed surface disturbances <br />will be accomplished by contract work as Grand Mesa Coal Company does not <br />have the necessary equipment or skilled laborers. Topsoil handling for each <br />of the proposed surface disturbances will be described in Section 2.05.3(5). <br />Overburden handling for each of the proposed surface disturbances will be <br />described in Section 2.05.3(6). <br />• One site in which surface disturbance is proposed to take place is the proposed <br />sedimentation pond.
