~~ The municipal supply includes drinking water and water for
use in the change houses and mining facilities. As PCC
plans to acquire this water from the town of Nucla, no
augmentation is required. This water requirement is not
considered further in this report.
The industrial water supply for each mining area has
two components, listed below with the estimated annual
requirement in acre-feet.
MINING AREA
NUCLA NUCLA EAST
1) Dust Suppression and Compaction
Make-up Water 14.0 23.0
• 2)
~ Evaporation from PCC's Ponds 6.0 6.3
3) Water Needed to Augment Water
.Rights Impacted. by Mining 0.0 25.8
Subtotal 20.0 55.1
Total
75.1
Evaporative losses at NUCLA (6 acre-feet) and NUCLA EAST
(6.3 acre-feet) were determined using pan evaporation data
from the weather station at Montrose, Colorado. A factor of
0.7 was used to convert pan evaporation to .pond evaporation.
A second factor of 1.06 was also used to adjust for the
evaporation difference between the Montrose station and NUCLA
and NUCLA EAST mining areas. (Reference 1). Table 6
summarizes the calculations.-
:
15
GEOriRANS, IMC.
