• 2.05.4(2) (e) Reveaetation Plan
This revegetation plan is designed to restore the
disturbed and regraded mining area to improved rangeland and wildlife
habitat. All of the regraded and topsoiled areas will be seeded with
the rangeland seed mix. The small areas that were previously Pinyon-
Juniper woodland will also be vegetated with the rangeland seed mix.
This plan has been developed with input from the landowners who desire
the improved rangeland and wildlife habitat.
During the first available planting season (weather
dependent) after soil preparation, (usually April 1 to May 15 and
September 1 to November 15), seeding, of the seed mix shown below will
be done using an acceptable state of the art range land drill pulled
by a rubber tired farm type tractor or other suitable equipment.
Broadcast seeding will be used for situations where drill seeding is
not practicable or feasible.
Rangeland Seed Mix
- Seeds Seeding Rate
/SF # PLS/Acre
Indian ricegrass, Orvzoous hvmenoides 8.0 2.50
Blue grams, Bouteloua oracilis 11.7 0.60
Needleandthread, Stioa comata 4.0 1.50
*Galleta (floret), Hilaria iamesii 8.8 2.40
Sand Dropseed, Saorobolus crvotandrus 6.0 0.05
**Utah Sweetvetch, Hevdsarum boreale 1.0 1.00
• Blue Flax, Linum lewisii 2.7 0.40
Fourwing ealtbush, Atrinlex canescens 0.6 0.50
Winterfat, Eurotia Janata 1_3 0.50
Totals 44.1 9.45
Seeding rate is for drill seeding - rate should be doubled for
broadcast seeding.
# PLS/Acre - Pounds of pure live seed per acre.
*Sideoats grams, Bouteloua curtipendula, may be substitued for Galleta
depending on seed availability. Sideoats grams will be seeded at the
rate of 1.6 #/acre which equates to 7.0 seeds per square foot.
**Cicer milkvetch, Astraoalus cicer. Lutana may be substituted for
Utah Sweetvetch depending on seed availability.
At the time of seeding, fertilizer will be applied to
enhance root development in the range mix seedlings. The actual type
and amount of fertilizer applied will be determined by requirements
derived from the analysis of random soil samples taken from the
surface one foot of redistributed topsoil material. At the beginning
of the second season of growth for the range seedlings, nitrate
fertilizer will be applied at the recommended rate for the type of
range vegetation utilized in reseeding and according to the rate
• indicated by soil analysis.
2.05-24 July 1993
