Palires
Planager, Denver Laboratory
C~rre~cial Testing and Engineering Company
19775 East 51st Ave.
Denver, Colorado 80239
Dear Mr. Palter:
v!t~( ~ni
We will be sending core saRg3les from our recent drilling program
and wish to have analysis and washability studies done. First we would
like a snort proximate analysis on each seam for each core (total of
4 seams and 4 cores), 16 samples.
Fle wish to have the information from all of the short proximate
samples sent to Western Slope Carbon, Inc., Salt Lake City prior to
any further worY..
• If there are no abnormal values of sulfur or Maf BTU, we will
then oaclbine the samples for each seam and do a washability for each
coal seam (Wild, D, C, B). We would like the following specific gravi-
ties: 1.3, 1.4, 1.5, 1.6, 1.7, 1.6, 1.9 and a short proximate analysis
on each specific gravity. We would then like the results sent to
Western Slope Carbon where-uaon we will determine a reasonable washed
product and then have proximate, ultimate, fusion-temperature of ash
(oxidizing and reducing), Sulfur forms, free swell index, grindability
index, and water soluble alkalies in gal perfonred for all 4 seams
and the "Geisler Plasto:reter" for "B" and "C" seams.
Evaluation of the samples will be a three step process with
possible change of instructions after each step, so please be certain
to notify A'estern Slope Carbon prior to begin the next step.
If I have left out scsrething obvious or have gotten analysis out
of order, please let me k-nwr. I will a.?preciate your ~cre~ts.
'ncerely, '~J
Al ~~dso~ /
Chief Engineer
AA/bno
f ~ ~ ; , .,, .. _ 7..
