UNITED STATES SOIL MONTE VISTA FIELD OFFICE
DEPARTMENT OF CONSERVATION 0881 NORTH HIGHWAY 285
AGRICULTURE SERVICE MONTE VISTA, CO 81144
-----------------------------------------------------------
Subject: LAND USE 310-11-11 - Mine Reclamation Plan for
Travis LESTER.
Travis Lester
23236 Highway 160
Sout~ Fork, CO 81154 March 3, 1988
Dear Mr. LESTER:
Encl~~sed is the Mined Reclamation information you requested from
out office on the designated 5 acres parcel on SE1/4 NE1/4 Sec-
tion 18, T40N, R1W.
The Marcel is a Subalpine loam range site. Soils on this site
are 'louga-Gateview complex, 3-5% slopes (16), Cryohemists-
Crya~auolls association, 0-12% slopes (176).
The 'fouga soil is deep and well drained with the lower part of
the :substratum a dark yellowish brown very gravelly sandy loam
that extends to 60 inches or more. The Gateview soil is deep and
well drained with the substratum composed of a dark brown ex-
trem~aly cobbly sandy loam that extends to 60 inches or more. The
Cryoliemista soils are deep and poorly drained with the lower sub-
stratum composed of very dark gray gravelly loam extending to a
depths of 60 inches or more. The Cryaquolls soils are moderately
deep or deep and poorly drained. The substratum is yellowish
brown very gravelly silt loam extending to a depth of 60 inches
or more. A detailed soils information is attached.
When the range site is in excellent condition, in a normal year,
it c:3n produce approximately 2800 lbs./ac of air dry materials.
It is; composed of approximately 65% grasses and 20% shrubs. A
visual inspection of the site was made on February 27, 1988. Due
to thie snow cover it was difficult to determine the present con-
dition and percent of existing species. As near as I can deter-
mine, the present condition is poor (overgrazed) range condition.
A complete Reclamation Plan for the site is attached, as you
requested.
If you have any questions, or if I can be of further assistance,
plea:~e don't hesitate to contact me.
~GU~er~ `y11. ~C~/o~a~
Lawrence KAWANABE
Soil Conservation Technician
