<br />Exhibt B Site Description <br />The soil association for the area to be used for the gravel pit is considered an <br />wages association. The wages saris consists of deep, well drained, gently <br />sloping to moderately soils on uplands. These soils formed in a mixture of silty <br />eolian and gravelly loamy materials. The soil has extremely gravelly areas on <br />ridges and on side slopes bordering intermittent streams. Top soil mixed with <br />gravel in 6" to 12". <br />The area is currently growing dry land crops and native grass with very poor <br />production because of the soil. <br />To the North of the area is a small sand creek that does carry some water during <br />heavy rains but is dry most of the year.. <br />The wildlrfe recourses on the affected land will most likely inGude reptiles, small <br />rodents, rabbits, fox and songbirds. There appears to be no endangered or <br />txitical species affected at this site. <br />On the South side of the pit area, is a county maintained gravel road. The county <br />will use it for acess to the pit. The county will install'Trudcs Entering Traffic" <br />signs on either side of the pit entrance. <br />Sedgwick County has a population of 2690. <br />The annual rainfaf! is 16 inches. <br />
