She said the pit also could cause the river to <br />be diverted in a new direction, threatening residents downstream. <br />But Allen Sorsenson, a geological engineer for the board, told that <br />board that neither scenario is likely. <br />The permit was reheard after Boynton convinced Denver District <br />Judge William Robbins that when the board considered the permit in <br />2001, it disregarded opponents' complaints about the gravel pit and did <br />not give them enough time to cross-examine witnesses for the project's <br />applicants, Four States Aggregate Inc. <br />Boynton said she will ask Robbins to order the board to negate the <br />permit because she said the board still didn't give her an opportunity to <br />cross-examine witnesses. <br />"They yelled at me and intimidated me," Boynton said. "All they care <br />about is approving gravel permits. That's the business they're in." <br />Paulin said it was Boynton who was yelling and intimidating. He said <br />she made unfair derogatory accusations about board staff that had no <br />basis in fact. <br />"It was very frustrating trying to run a meeting with her interrupting <br />all the time," Paulin said.
