• I. ROOF CONTROL PLAN
This is the minimum roof control plan, which has been formulated for
normal roof conditions encountered during development mining at the
Eagle ;5 Mine. This plan shall comply with all roof control
provisions of 30 CFR 15.200, as well as the Coal Mining Laws of the
State of Colorado.
This is a combination roof control plan. It is based on the use of
either shield supports or roof bolt support. The "Safety
Precautions" included in the following pages shall be strictly
followed.
J. SAFETY PRECAUTIONS FOR MAINTAINING CONVENTIONAL SUPPORTED A
This is the minimum roof control plan and was formulated for
maintaining areas with normal roof condition which were supported
conventionally prior to May, 1985.
Permanently supported roof shall be defined as:
' 1) All roof between test holes and five (5) feet inby the last
test showing a minimum of eighteen (18) inches of head coal and the
minimum roof support permanently placed on five (5) foot centers
• along the length of entry.
OR
2) A1] roof which supported by cross bars on five (5) foot
centers or their equivalent, or timbers placed five (5) centers
across the width and length of the entry, or the five (5) foct span
between a timber row and the rib.
Also, if areas have been mined where geologic hazards are known to
exist, crossbars will be set on (5) foot center through and for (~5)
feet on each side of the hazard. This statement restricts all areas
mined after February, 1983.
K. SAFETY PRECAUTIONS FOR ROOF BOLT SUPPORT
1. This is the minimum roof control plan and was formulated for
normal roof conditions while using the mining system(s)
described. The plan consists of installing bolts on no more
than 5-foot centers across the width and length of the entry, as
shown in Figure K-1. In areas where subnormal roof conditions
are encountered, indicated, or anticipated, the operator shall
orovide additional support where necessary.
