<br />24-80-305. Custodian -finance board - indehtedness. The secretary of the

<br />24-80-306. Collection of material -expense. To bind and preserve topics
<br />f newspapers published in the county where located; to preserve manu-
<br />cripts and photographs of local interest; to procure copies of all books per-
<br />aining to the Rocky Mountain country; and especially to preserve to the
<br />ullest extent possible the history of our soldiers in the recent world war

<br />24-80-307. Duty of secretary-custodian -report. It is the duly of tltc
<br />secretary-custodian of every county unit taking advantage of this part 3 to
<br />report from time to time to the state historical society o(Colorado on matters
<br />which relate to the historical development of that county or of the state and
<br />also to make annually a report to the state historical society containing such
<br />information and submitted at such a time as the state historical society shall
<br />require.

<br />24-80-401, Title to historical, prcltittorical, and archaeological resources,
<br />(1) The state of Colorado reserves to itself title to all historical, prcltistori-
<br />cal, and archaeological resources in all lands, rivers, Oakes, reservoirs, and
<br />other areas owned b the state ran of tts olitical ubdivisions. Historical,
<br />prehistorical, and arc aeological resources shaft include all deposits, struc-
<br />tures, or objects which provide information pertaining to the historical or
<br />prehistorical culture of people within the bounclarics of the stale of Colorado,
<br />as well as fossils and other remains of animals, plants, insects, and other
<br />objects of natural history within such boundaries.
<br />(2) As used in this part 4, "historical, prehistorical, and archaeological •
<br />resources" includes, in addition to the specific site or deposit, rights-of-tvay
<br />access on state-owned land from a maintained public road for the explora-
<br />tion, protection, preservation, interpretation, and enhancement of the site
<br />or deposit proper.

<br />24-80-402. Administration of part 4. In addition to any other potvcrs and
<br />duties conferred by law, the state historical society of Colorado, referred to
<br />in this part 4 as the "society", shall administer the provisions of this part
<br />4, and the duties and powers of the state archaeologist described in this part
<br />q shall be exercised under the direction of its board of directors.

<br />24-80-403. Office of state archaeologist -purpose. Thcrc is hereby estab-
<br />lished the office of state archaeologist, which shall be a section within the
<br />society in the department of higher education. The purpose of the office
<br />of state archaeologist shall be to coordinate, encourage, and preserve by the
<br />use of appropriate means the full understanding of this state's archaeological
<br />resources as the same pertain to man's cultural heritage, the study and under-
<br />standing of which within the state of Colorado will result in an ultimate
<br />benefit to the citizens of this state.

<br />24-80-404. Stale archaeologist -appointment -qualifications. Tltc board
<br />of directors of the society is hereby authorized to and shall appoint a state
<br />archaeologist pursuant to the provisions of section 13 of article XIl of the
<br />state constitution. The state archaeologist shall be the head of the office of
<br />slate archaeologist. He shall he a graduate o(a recognizcrl college or univer-
<br />sity wish apost-graduate degree in archacolrrgy or anlhropnloev and shall
