surveyed the site for the presence of noxious weed. As of this date, noxious weeds were
not observed on the site. Therefore, the primary weed management objective for the
White River City Pit is to prevent noxious weeds from establishing infestations within the
permit area.
5.0 WEED 1VIANAGEMNT ACTIONS
Because no noxious weeds have been observed on this site, weed management actions
will be focused on the prevention of weed infestation within the White River City permit
area. Weed management actions will consist of the Following:
a. Each mid-April, a noxious weed survey will be made of the permit area using
Table 1. If weeds were observed and treated during the previous survey,
evaluate success of Veatment using Table 2;
b. If any noxious weed patches or plants have been identified, they will be
sprayed by backpack sprayer or ATV using chemicals approved by the Rio
Blanco County Weed Department. This will be done within two weeks after
the inspection when the weeds are most vulnerable. Care will be taken to spot
spray where possible to avoid killing desirable broad leaf plant;
c. Revegetation efforts for reclaimed areas will be implemented at the eazliest
practical planting season;
d. Topsoil that is stockpiled for more than one year shall be seeded with the dry
land seed mix listed in the reclamation plan section of the Colorado Division
of Reclamation, Mining and Safety (DRMS) Permit No. M-2006-084;
e. After reclamation of portions of the site and after final reclamation, weed
surveys and spraying will continue until the perennial cover and production of
the site have met the DRMS requirements and bond release has been obtained;
and
f. All straw, hay, mulch, seed or other material used for soil stabilization and/or
revegetation purposes shall be certified weed free by a certified inspector to
Colorado Department of Agriculture standards.
Weed Management Plan, White River Ciry Pit
