Sediment Ponds. Three of the sediment ponds will be totally reclaimed (009, 015 and 016),
• while two 1006 and 005) will remain in place as permanent ponds. Location of all
impoundments can be found on Exhibits 12-2 and 12-3. Embankment volumes were taken from
existing, proposed, and typical designs as shown in Chapter 13. The embankment material
and sediment accumulated from the ponds could be dozed into the surrounding area to
reestablish tRe drainage. A one-time cost for dredging sediment from the ponds has also
been included (see approp Hare worksheet Attachment 25-1).
Road Reclamation. The three types of roatls requiring reclamation within the mine site are
haul roads that are to be totally reclaimed, light-use roads that ace to be totally
reclaimed, antl roads that are presently haul roads but ui 11 be left for the postmine
landowner and must be narrowed. There are approximately 10.5 miles of haul roads that
will be totally reclaimed, 9.9 miles of light-use roads that will be totally reclaimed,
and 9.6 miles of haul roads [hat will be downsizetl for postmine landowner use.
Light-Use Roads. In 2000 there will be approximately 4.8 miles of light-use roads that
will be reclaimed. As a general rule, these roads are not surfaced. The subgrade will be
ripped, and the cut/fills will be graded to cover the surface material. The culverts and
embankments will be removed, topsoil respread, and the area revegetated. Please see
appropriate worksheets in Attachment 25-1 for calculations.
Haul Roads, There are approximately 10.5 miles of haul road that will need to be
reclaimed. The surfacing material will be hauled into the pit and buried as pact of the
final pit grading. See appropriate worksheets in Attachment 25-1 for reclamation costs.
Permanent Roads. There are approximately 9.6 miles of haul roads. These roads will be
narrowed to 20 foot wide for postmi ning use (see Tab 13 for details). These roads will
take the place of jeep trails that existed in the area pxiox to mining and add
transportation routes that were not available prior to mining. Refer to appropriate
worksheets in Attachment 25-1 for reclamation activities.
Fleet Determination
Once the volumes for the various phases of reclamation were determined, the number of
shifts, Rours per shift, equipment types, operator/operating efficiencies, support
•
6
Revised 5/00
