2.03.]2 Newspaper Advertisement and Proof of Publication: <br />APPLICATION FOR PERMIT FOR <br />COAL MINING IN COLORADO <br />Blue Flame Coal Company, ]001 East Second Avenue, Durango, Colorado <br />8130], (303) 385-4860, has filed with the Colorado Mined Land Reclamation <br />Division, an application for a permit to conduct coal mining under the pro- <br />visions of the Colorado Surface Coal Mining Reclamation Act of 1979. The legal <br />description of the proposed mine is as follows: <br /> A vein of coal situate, lying and being in the County of La Plata and <br /> the State of Colorado, to-wit: The upper vein of coal commencing at <br /> an elevation of 7,382.]7 feet at the mine portal, which vein is gener- <br /> ally located on property described as the West 400 feet of the North- <br /> east Quarter of the Northeast Quarter (NE]/4 NE]/4) and in and under <br /> the Northwest Quarter of Northwest Quarter of the Northeast Quarter <br /> (NE1/4 NE1/4) of Section 3l, Township 35 North, Range 11 West, <br /> N.M.P.M., together with all tipples, bins, hoppers and other buildings <br /> and structures used or placed on said premises for use in the mining <br /> and removing of coal from said vein: Together with theright of <br /> ingress and egress and over and across existing roadways fore use in <br /> connection with the said premises above described. Together with the <br /> right to mine and remove coal from said vein, and together with the <br />• right to use the private road now existing over and across the North- <br />west Quarter of the Northwest Quarter (NW]/4 NW]/4) of Section 32, and <br /> the North Half of the Northeast Quarter (N]/2 NW1/4) of Section 31, <br /> and the Southwest Quarter of the Southeast Quarter (SW]/4 SEl/4) of <br /> Section 30, all in Township 35 North, Range ]] West, N.M.P.M., to the <br /> public highway located in Hay Gulch. <br />The surface of the proposed permit area is owned by Lawrence - <br />kfuntington and the Ute Mountain Ute Indian Tribe. The proposed date of com- <br />mencement of the operation is July ], ]986. The description below indicates <br />the towns, water bodies, local landmarks and routes necessary to readily ident- <br />ify the proposed permit area. The proposed post-mining use of the affected <br />land is livestock grazing. <br />DESCRIPTION: The mine site may be reached by heading South from <br />Hesperus on State Highway ]40 (about 3.9 miles) to the junction of La <br />Plata County Road ]20. Follow the County Road West for 5.6 miles on <br />Hay Gulch. At that point, an unpaved road (access road) leads south- <br />erly for about ],200 feet putting one at the Blue Flame Coal mine <br />site. <br /> A copy of the Application for Public Inspection at the La Plata County <br /> Courthouse, ]060 East Second Avenue, Durango, Colorado 8730]. Written com- <br /> ments, objections, or requests for an informal conference on the application <br /> may be submitted to, and additional information obtained from, the Mined Land <br /> Reclamation Division, Room 423, 1313 Sherman S treet, Denver, Colorado 80203, <br /> (303) 866-3567. F7ritten comments, objections, or requests for an informal <br /> conference must be filed at the Division by 5:00 P.M, on May ]5, ]986. <br />
