UNITED STATES DEPARTMENT OF AGRICULTURE
SOIL CONSERVATION SERVICE 701 CaminO Del R10, Durango, CO
u z L2~?~1R1_'i J~~~
RUG 2 19x4 ~
:~ _
81301 hCZ 1J1~.. --
• Alan Czar..^.owsky July 30, 1984
Pearless Resources, Inc.
% ACZ, INC.
P.0. Box 774078
Steamboat Springs, CO 80477
Per your request for mined land reclamation data for the proposed
COAL GULCH MINE which is located in the NW,'-, of Section 22, and the
NEw of Section 21, Township 35 North, Range 10 West in La Plata
County, Colorado, the following information is provided.
As I understand the mining plan the above described area will be
_ between 10 and 15 acres of disturbed land. It is the intention
of the developer to use this area as roadway, stockpile area, equip-
ment parking area and the entry point into the underground portals
that will be mined in Section 16, Township 35 North, Range 10 West
and belonging to the Colorado State Land Board.
The disturbed area was previously mined to some extent and no noticable
reclamation work was done. The proposed mined land reclamation
plan will attempt to reclaim the previously disturbed area as well
as the newly disturbed area.
• Soils descriptions for the area were previously provided.
Present vegetation densities on the site are attached as CO-ECS-2,
Range Condition Inventory. It should be noted that plants currently
present on the site are not native "climax" species. Most are
invader plants that have come onto the site after the last mining
operation moved out.
Mined land reclamation revegetation data is attached as CO-ECS-S,
Planned Grass Seeding. Topsoil removed by the mining operation
will be stockpiled and respread after mining to provide a good
growth medium.
This property, and the adjacent Section 16 State Land Board Land
is not considered Prime and/or Unique Farmland.
Sincerely,
~•
C,
Dan Lynn
District Conservationist
O
v
