Ilolgate;
Salt Creek h1inirtg Company is in the process of evaluating sealing
. the Munger Canyon Portals and reclaiming the
accordance with 30 CR 75.1711 Salt Creek req mine site. In
uests approval of the
method of closing the mine that is described below.
Salt Creek intends to close the drift entrances to the mine as
prescribed in 30 CFR 75.1717.-2. Specifically, the entries will be
backf:i]led for aL least 25 feet with incombustible material. In
addition to filling the entrances as prescribed, Salt Creek intends
to construct a seal at the inby end of the area that will be
baclrfilled. 7'lte seal twill be one of two types, either block or
pumped cotrrrete foam. The proposed seal locations are shown on the
enclosed sketch of the mine.
Dlock seals will be located as shown on the enclosed sketch. 'Phe
seal shall be constructed of a double row of cinder blocks. 1'he
joicrLs between the blocks shall be mortared. The blocks will be
minimally hitched into the rib and floor so that when the entry is
bac}stilled, the seal will not be damaged. All areas that are
intended for seals have existing posts and crossbars to support the
roof.
Should Salt Creelr decide to use pumped concrete foam rather than
block to build the seals, the seals shall be installed at the same
location as the block seals. 1'he pumped foam concrete seal will not
be hitched into the roof, rib or floor. The seal will be at least
two feet thick.
P" 1
r~
~~ . -
I v J
