Sprague Mayger of United Companies accompanied you <br />during most of this inspection. <br />In response to the probleans noted in the Inspection Report, I seat you a letter on August <br />28, 2001 and proposed Technical Revision 2 ro the approved mining and reclamation <br />plans for this permit. <br />Technical Revision 2 has been approved. <br />With respect to Problem 3 cited in the CDMG report of the June 22, 2001inspection, <br />"There are dead trees along the north edge of the pcmut area, though they are <br />required to be maintained live during the mining and reclamation stages: ' <br />I replied in my letter of August 28, <br />'mead (and dying) trees located at the north Permit boundary will be replaced by <br />October 31, 2001." <br />Mr. Sprague Mayger, the Area Manager for United Companies in Montrose has located a <br />source of trees to replace the oats in question at the north side of the Colona Pit access <br />road, Two tree species, Patmore Ash and Newport Plum, have been recommended by our <br />supplier. United Companies plans to use both species when we replace the dead trees at <br />Colona. <br />These trees should not be transplanted before October 31, 2001 according to our supplier. <br />The tree supplier recommends that the trees not be transplanted until the leaves have <br />fallen and the roots are dormant. Damage to the roots will be reduced (and life <br />
