~, .
contractor is currently in the process (completion anticipated in the next 3-4 weeks) of
installing a "water-ring" which will isolate groundwater inflows from the shaft
excavation area, with the potential to significantly improve the quality of water
discharged from the shaft excavation. Once the shaft is completed, TCC anticipates that
any continuing groundwater inflows will either be permitted and captured for beneficial
use or routed into the mine, to be handled as mine-water inflows.
We appreciate your consideration of this request, and given the challenges of handling
the quantities of groundwater inflows we are currently experiencing, your cooperation in
expediting review and approval. Recognizing that good communication is essential to
your timely review, please feel free to contact me with any questions, or if we can assist
in any way.
Best regards,
Twentymile Coal Company
Jerry M. Nettleton
Environmental Manager
