The ' <br />I <br />method of the analysis is described in the Appendix A; the i <br />:results are presented and discussed in the report. <br />2.0 SITE CONDITIONS WITHIN THE LANDSLIDE AREA <br />2.1 GEOLOGIC CONDITIONS <br />Geologic conditions of the area have been discussed in our <br />?rogress Report. Drilling of the borings at the nine entries <br />and along the road alignment shows erratic geologic conditions <br />as can be expected within a landslide area. Considerable soil i <br />cover has been detected in most borings; it can be assumed that ~ <br />these soils comprise largely landslide deposits. Soil cover I <br />thickness ranges generally between 20 to 30 feet; in one of the <br />borings along the road alignment (boring A-6), bedrock could not <br />be reached even at the depth of 74 feet. <br />Thickness of soils may increase within the part where the <br />mine bench will be located; all piezometer holes in this area <br />were drilled in soils to depths up to 38 feet. <br />We can conclude that most excavations on the site will be <br />performed in soils rather than in rock; there is enough support- <br />ing data for this conclusion at the proposed mine bench area. <br />Borings drilled along the road indicate soil deposits of sig- <br />nificant thickness as well, but it cannot be excluded that rocks <br />will be encountered along the road. during the excavation of <br />higher cuts. <br />Data from borings drilled for our purpose and data from old <br />ARCO exploration drilling enable a quite accurate interpretation <br />ao.no.ooo'a.n.a.c <br />
