/wnc 1991 Cyprur TCC • firh Crreh AVf Monitoring Program • 1
1.0 INTRODUCTION
This report summarius monitoring recommendations for the Fish Creek Alluvial Valley Floor
Study. Subsidence and vegetation monitoring programs are outlined. Hydrologic monitoring
for the Fish Creek study area is discussed in Exhibit 14, Hydrologic Monitoring Plan.
2.0 SUBSIDENCE MONITORING PROGRAM
The proposed subsidence monitoring program is outlined below and shown on Map 1,
Subsidence Monitoring Plan.
2.1 LAYOUT
Survey lines will be established to monitor subsidence over Longavall Panels 5 and 6 due to both
Panel 5 and Panel 6 undermining. One transverse line will be established a[ 10,000E ex[ending
2700 feet from 500 feet north of Panel 5's tailgate to 500 feet south of Panel 7's tailgate (Survey
Line A-A'). Two transverse lines will be established to monitor the star profiles for Panel 5
(Survey Line B-B') and Panel 6 (Survey Line C-C'). Survey line B-B' eztends approximately 1500
feet from a point located 500 feet west of Panel 5's start room eazt to the [ransverse survey line.
Survey Line C-C' extends approximately 2400 feet from a point located 500 feet west of Panel
6's start room east to the transverse survey line. Monumen[s will be located at 100 feet intervals
along each survey line. ~ ;-o~.,.~ ~-{ ~ ~ d- ].SJ
uNO~g i
2.2 MONITORING
Monitoring will be carried out from one or more base stations using a total station instrument
which permits measurement of the coordinates (x,y, and z) of each monument to an accuracy
of 0.05 feet. In addition, baseline and final surveys will include a dosed level survey with a
closure accuracy of 0.02 feet.
2.3 MEASUREMENT FREnUENCY
Baseline data will be collected at least one month prior to starting longwall mining from each
star room. The frequenry of baseline and subsequent measuremenu will be az follows:
• Panel 5 (Survey Lines A-A' and B-B')
- Baseline measurements one month prior to Panel start
- Weekly from Panel start for two months
- Three months after Panel Stan
- At the end of Panel 5 mining, prior to the star of Panel 6 mining
• Panel 6 (Survey Lines A-A', B-B', and C-C')
- Baseline measurements one month prior [o Panel Start
- Weekly from Panel start for three months
. _ Four months after Panel start
Final survey at end of Panel 6 mining prior to Stan of Panel 7 mining.
ACZ Inc.
