These may develop or change over time and include: o elimination of irrigable land in the surrounding area o repair of leaky ditdres upstream of the site o climatic changes o changes in irtigation practices 7. Remedial action In the event downstream water rights are damaged remedial action can betaken to address this problem. The scope of the action would depend on the scope of the problem. In general, however, Uncompahgre Valley Water Users' Association (project) water will be used to augment or replace any diminished flows attributable to the mining project. 658 AF per year of water is available far this purpose. Exfiltraflon galleries or injection wells can be used to recharge the groundwater system at specific locations. Because of the conductive and relatively uniform nature of the gravels these methods should work quite well. ti. Need for a comprehensive hydrologic study From a hydrologic standpoint the system in and around the project area is uniform and well defined. The various components have been presented and disassed in this letter. Anecdotal evidence, measured data, and observations confirm the nature of the hydrologic system as described in this letter. Only a few of the factors that contribute to the hydrologic balance are atlected by the proposed plan and no signficant impacts, attributable to the development of a gravel pit, have been identified.
