The complete backfilling closure method will not
require additional disturbed area either by partial cuttings retrieval or by exporting from
another outside source. The method of construction will be raise-bore/slash. The raise-bore
diameter is 20 feet. This means the bedrock and fill material for the most part will be back-
stowed underground. This method of shaft construction will not result in long-term outside
storage of cuttings and will not result in revising the maps in the submittal.
3) Please add to the submittal an evaluation of potential adverse impacts to Monunaern Dam from
the proposed blasting.
MCC has attached a letter from Barr Engineering addressing the potential impacts of
blasting at the Deer Creek Shafts on Monument Dam.
If you have questions regazding these adequacy responses please call me at (970) 929-2238.
Sinc e ,
Q i~4~t.(~te~
enry A. arbe
Enviromnental Engineer
Enclosures:
cc: Doug Nolte
Phil Schmidt
Chris Nyikos
Ryan Taylor - USFS
