Longterm and cumulative impacts to red-raped sapsuckers are not expected to occ~u.
This project will not impact the viability of the species.
Common Trout: Common trout which include Colorado River cutthroat trout, rainbow
trout, brown trout and brook trout, do not occur in Minnesota Creek at or below the
project area. There maybe some small isolated sites such as beaver dams upstream of
the site that could support brook trout, but these would be ]united. There is no suitable
habitat for these fish in Minnesota Creek below the proposed vent shaft and all water
from Minnesota Creek Reservoir is released annually for irrigation purposes. This
project will not impact the viability of any of these species.
DETERD4Il~FATIONS
Conservafion Requirements Necessary for Determination of No EffectlNo Impact
During wildlife surveys conducted in May and June 2005, no T&E species or their
habitat were found.. Should any of these species be encountered appropriate measures as
determined by the Forest Service and FWS will be impleme~ed to avoid disturbance.
Habitat disturbance in the aspen stand will be kept to a minimum to protect snags that
could be used by cavity nesting birds.
Sediment control measures will be utilized to minimi7P the risk of impacting Minnesota
Creek_
Herbicide treatment of disturbed areas will occur annually to prevent the establishment
and spread of noxious weeds.
Prepared by: John W.
