Dept. of Natural Resources
August 25, 1982
Brad James
Reclamation Specialist
Division of Mined Land Reclamation
1313 Sherman Street, Room 423
Denver, Colorado 80203
Dear Brad:
Enclosed are two copies of the topographic mapping of Bear River Sand and
Gravel for Cass Weber. Scale and contour interval are noted on the maps.
The ponds are areas where gravel has been extracted and these have been numbered
to assist in discussion.
The entire north side of the river and ponds 8 and 9 were disturbed prior to
Mr. Weber's acquisition of the property. Since permitting has been required,
ponds 1, 5, 7 and 10 along with the crusher and stockpile areas have seen
activity. Obviously, since the operation was started in 1935 greater than 10
acres have been disturbed. The area affected since 1973 is considerably less
than the total, however, and appears to be under 10 acres. Mr. Weber wishes
to be in compliance with all applicable regulations of the M.L.R.B. and other
regulatory agencies. We have discussed many mine plan options using one or
both sides of the river. We would appreciate your comments on one set of the
maps so that an acceptable mining plan can be formulated and conducted. A
meeting would be even more valuable.
A copy of your file including past inspections and current permit would help
bring me up to date on the history of the mine. If you could send me a set
it would be appreciated.
Sincerely,
~'G~,- ~/~~/=z-rte['
Kevin McBride
Project Engineer
KM/bam
cc: Cass Weber
