<br />Project Summary <br />This projects involves the creation of a 10 acre limestone quarry. The project will fall under the <br />jurisdiction the Colorado Division of Minerals and Geology and needs to have a Limited Impact I IO <br />Operation Permit. Limestone at this site from this site will be used for erosion conuol, rip rap, and mine <br />drainage stabilization. Topsoil and shale will be stripped from the mining area and stored in berms at the <br />perimeter of the mining area. The shallow limestone will be excavated using a track excavator. The <br />sorted limestone will be stored in stockpiles onsite. The primary use for the limestone at this site will be <br />for mine drainage stabilization. The high CaCo3 content of this limestone is excellent for this purpose. <br />Some of the limestone and shale will also be used in construction and farming applications o6=site. <br />A new access road approximately 1600 feet long will be constructed from Huer(ano County Road 211 to <br />the quarry site. The new quam will be developed at an exposed rock face. This limestone outcrop has <br />provided a linuted source of limestone Cor some small projects in the past. Reclamation and stabilization <br />of the site will be according to the recommendations o(the U.S. Department of Agriculture Soil <br />Conservation Service, Walsenburg. CO. <br />
