eh
ESPEY, HUSTON 6 ASSOCIATES, INC.

The strata overlying the G seam consists of thin bedded discontinuous
siltstones and fine- to medium-grained sandstones interbedded with dazk colored
bedded shales, sandy shales and mudstone. The cumulative rock types aze thickest
neaz the Rienau No. 2 (GSeam) Mine where approximately 60 feet of strata
separate the G seam from the overlying H-seam bed. This interval is typically 5 to
15 feet thick over most of the property with the H-seam ranging from approxi-
mately 6 to 13 feet and averaging less than 10 feet. East of the Rienau No. 2 (G
Seam) Mine the interval thins to less than 5 feet in the SW ., sectioa 28, where the
H-seam bed thins to zero thickness. Lithologies underlying the G seam aze similar
to the stratum above.
The depth of strata overlying the G seam vazies with topography and
geologic structure from 725 feet in the south where it subcrops adjacent to burned
strata down to about 2,400 feet neaz the northern boundary of section 21. The dip
of the G seam ranges from 18° north at the Rienau No. 2 (G-Seam) Mine to 12° west
' of aorth along the eastern portion of the property neaz Aicher's Draw and appear to
be nearly flat lying along the axis of Sulfur Creek syncline. The Rienau No. 2 (G-
seam) Mine operates in the Gseam coal bed under OSM approval dated June 1, 1979
and CMLRB permit 78-345.

F-9
