SHERMAN, SECRETARY, MINED LAND RECLAMATION BOARD
FROM: DR. JERIS A. DANIELSON, DEPUTY STATE ENGINEER
SUBJECT: HAZELTIME INVESTMENT ASSOCIATION, ADAMS COUNTY, APPLICATION FOR
MINING AND RECLAMATION PERMIT
As requested by your office, we have reviewed the application for a gravel pit
near Henderson. The application will reclaim the pit with a 63-acre lake,
but has proposed to provide 50 shares of Fulton Ditch water to replace evapora-
tion losses from the lake. While these shares do not replace the total annual
evaporation loss, they should be sufficient for replacement of losses during
times of normal demand. We recommend that these 50 shares be permanently
attached by covenant, deed restriction, or other legal means to the 120 acres
being mined and that the augmentation be adjudicated in the Water Court.
The applicant has not estimated his water requirements for gravel washing,
dust control, or other purposes. Also, he has not identified the source of
water for these purposes.
The applicant states
the pit. Therefore,
pit.
that he will remove the gravel by dragline without dewatering
we expect no adverse effects on alluvial wells near the
~.
Danielson
JAD/SSH/pjl
cc: W.
