n
U
maintained the high levels in the alluvium. The water levels for
September and November of 1987 are slightly lower than normal,
probably due to a declining flow in Pyeatt Gulch. water levels in the
Lewis Shale (well P3, see Figure A-27), which is in contact with the
Pyeatt alluvium, have varied very similar•~,to the alluvial aquifer in
this area. Water levels in the Second White Sandstone aquifer near
well PS have been declining since early 1986, falling approximately
four feet. This indicates that recharge to the Second White Sandstone
has declined in this area. Water levels in the Third White Sandstone
well, P8 (see Figure A-29), also have shown the decline in 1987,
dropping four feet from November 1986 to March 1987 and an additional
• two feet through 1987. Recharge to the Third White Sandstone in this
area has also declined during 1987. These declines are thought to be
natural.
Water levels of Johnson Gulch alluvial well, J1, are presented in
Figure A-30. This plot shows fairly steady water levels with a slight
rise from June to December of 1987 for the alluvial aquifer in this
area. The Flume alluvial aquifer is monitored with alluvial wells GC3
and Coy. The water level in alluvial well, Coy, (see Figure A-31) has
remained fairly steady since May 1986. Figure A-8 shows a steady
water level for alluvial well GC3 for the last two years.
Well 81-03A is completed in the Third White Sandstone. A water-
level elevation of 6319.6 was computed from pressure readings measured
• at the well head. No plot is presented for well 81-03A since it has
2-8
