•
2.0 GROUND-WATER LEVELS
Water levels or water pressure have been measured in 29 wells at
Trapper Mine. Wells GF1, GF3, GD2, GP3 and GP4 are flowing wells and
pressure readings on these wells has been converted to static water
head in feet above land surface. Well GD1 is not measured for water
level because a pump is installed in this well. Wells GZ1; GZ2 and
GZ3 were destroyed by mining during 1986 as approved by the Colorado
Mined Land Reclamation Division and are therefore, not included in
this report. The GBB series of wells were monitored only through the
first half of 1987 at which time they were dropped from the monitoring
schedule in accordance with state approval.
•
The location of the monitoring wells is shown on Map No. 2-1.
Wells GD1 and GF1 are completed in the Twenty Mile Sandstone, while
well GF2 is completed below the R coal in the U aquifer system. Six
wells, GA1, GE1, GD2, GF6, GP5 and GP6 are used to monitor the QR
aquifer. Wells GA2, GB1, GF3 and GP4 are used to monitor the RLM
aquifer. Five wells, GBS, GC1, GE2, GF4 and GP3, are used to observe
changes in the HI aquifer. Wells GB2, GC 2, P8 and 81-03A are used to
monitor the Third White Sandstone aquifer. Wells GE3 and P5 are
completed in the Second White Sandstone between the G and F coals
while well P3 is perforated in the Lewis Shale. Four alluvial wells,
GC 3, P1, J1 and COY are also monitored. Well GFS is completed in the
backfill aquifer in an area where the HI seams were mined. Well GF7
• was completed in the backfill aquifer in the Fall of 1987. Very few
2-1
